The best start in life for all our children.

Carterhatch Infant School PE and Sports Premium Information 2017/18

At Carterhatch Infant School, we recognise and value the contribution of PE and sport to the health and well being of our children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and range of extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. The Primary School Sports premium that we receive this year will enable us to continue and extend our provision in line with The Department for Education’s vision:

The Department for Education Vision:

‘ALL pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.’

At Carterhatch Infant School, it is our aim to use our PE and Sports Premium to make additional and sustainable improvements in the quality of PE and sport in our school against the following 5 key indicators:

  • The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school
  • The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • Increased participation in competitive sport

From the January 2017 school census Carterhatch Infant School received £17790 of PE and Sport Premium funding for the academic year 2017/18.

From the PE and Sport Premium we receive in 2017/18 we aim to:

  • To continue to promote a healthy and active lifestyle across the school
  • To continue to work in partnership with the Enfield PE Team providing access to relevant high quality training for staff to continue our mission to be competent and confident in delivering PE, entry into borough competitions, events and festivals in a competitive environment, as well as providing opportunities for our SEND children
  • To employ specialist coaches to lead PE lessons, whilst sharing their passion for sports with the children and model outstanding practice for teachers
  • To increase extra curricular sports and offer a wider range of activities and clubs at Carterhatch Infant School
  • To increase participation from families in events linked to health and sports
  • To introduce and develop the ‘Daily Mile’ at Carterhatch Infant School
  • To begin to build relationships and partnerships with local sports clubs and schools to provide children with more opportunities for inter competitions
