COVID 19 - Remote Learning

Remote Learning

Year 2

The children in Year 2 are now confident using J2 Launch in school and have shared with their families at home.  Homework is now on J2 Launch for Year 2 children.  This familiarity with the learning platform supports children and their families when there is a need to move to remote learning.  Remote learning may become necessary due to covid or other circumstances where children are unable to access school.  J2 Launch is a strong learning platform for young children, highly recommended by the Borough.  

Year 1

The children in Year 1 were introduced to J2 Launch in September. 

Families and children can access J2 Launch via their logins to support and practise their learning.  However, as the children have only recently become familiar with the learning platform, remote learning is mainly via emails.

Nursery & Reception - Tapestry

Nursery & Reception will continue to use Tapestry to liaise with families to support remote learning as well as emails. Any photos or ‘work” can either be uploaded on Tapestry or emailed using class emails.

General

Where families do not have access to the internet or laptops/ipads, etc., we will arrange for a paper copy to either be delivered or liaise with family re collection.

Class emails are also available for communication and support.  During periods of lockdown, teachers/members of staff have contacted families on a weekly basis to check if they have needed any support generally and/or with remote learning.

We have games on our website where children can practise their learning for English and Maths under the Curriculum tab – “Free website games for English and Maths”. 

Carterhatch Infants youtube channel also supports learning. Links are shared by our teachers.

BBC Bitesize - Use BBC Bitesize to help with your homework, revision and learning. Find free videos, step-by-step guides, activities and quizzes by level and subject.

BBC Bitesize daily - free daily lessons for Yr1-10 on English and Maths and much more.

The National Oak Academy - The National Oak Academy is providing free quality-assured, curriculum-mapped videoed lessons and resources.  

Times Tables Rockstars Years 1 & 2 - Pupils access Times Tables Rockstars to support learning their times tables. Each pupil has their own username and password in the back of their home learning books.  The App is free to download on any device.

Numbots Nursery & Reception –Pupils can develop their early maths skills.

White Rose Maths - The White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five brand new maths lessons for each year group from Years 1-8. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully.
