Early Years Provision at Carterhatch Infant School
At Carterhatch Infant School, we are proud to offer high-quality early years education in a nurturing and stimulating environment.
We have a wonderful School Nursery that provides 76 places for children aged 3 to 4 years. We offer both part-time and 30-hour, full-time places for eligible families. To access the 30-hour entitlement, parents must be registered with HMRC and provide the school with a valid eligibility code.
In addition to our School Nursery, we also offer a dedicated Pre-School for children aged 2 to 3 years. Our Pre-School provides a caring and engaging setting where our youngest learners can begin their educational journey, develop key skills, and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
We are committed to giving every child the best possible start to their learning journey. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, please contact the school office.

Summer Born Children: Children born between 1st April and 31st August are considered summer born. These children are not required to start school until September following their fifth birthday – a year later than the usual start date. Parents may request that their summer-born child starts Reception a year later, rather than moving directly into year 1. We encourage families considering this option to discuss it with us before making a decision. Parents advice from the Department for Education is available here.
